Ag Leader Sponsors Lincoln Way American Red Cross Chapter’s Young Heroes of the Heartland
What do Girl Scouts, a self-proclaimed geek and two students attending Harvard all have in common? They are just a few of the individuals and groups who now hold the title “Young Heroes of the Heartland” from the local Lincoln Way chapter of the American Red Cross. Ag Leader was a proud sponsor of the Young Heroes of the Heartland initiative to recognize youth in Story, Boone and Greene counties who’ve made a difference in their communities. From making pet beds for animals stricken with cancer to saving a drowning boy at a hotel swimming pool, these Young Heroes are nothing short of inspirational. Of the dozens of nominations received throughout central Iowa, eight were selected for this prestigious honor.
Ag Leader’s own Jerry Busta is the Lincoln Way American Red Cross Chapter Chairman of the Board. In his role, he is dedicated to raising awareness of the American Red Cross, fundraising and serving as the resident spokesman for local chapter efforts. “Our mission is to provide relief to victims of disaster and help prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies,” Busta explained. “Those selected best exemplify what the American Red Cross stands for, and it is with great pride that our chapter honors the achievements of these inaugural Young Heroes.”
