Tell us the basics
Hi, my name is Renee Van Marel and I work in the Accounting department here at Ag Leader. I’ve been here a little over 2 years now and I call Forest City my hometown. I’ve lived in Ames 34 years now, though and I’ve been living in the same house for 28 years.
Tell us about your work
My main responsibilities are processing invoices to send out and applying payments for dealer accounts. I field phone calls and manage email questions from dealers regarding invoices and payments. I have a lot of similar tasks each day and yet each day is different, which I enjoy.
I would say the favorite part of my job would be helping to solve problems big and small for our dealers and having a positive outcome.

Tell us about yourself
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family. I like to keep busy with a variety of activities, live music events, running 5Ks, walking the dog, and riding my bicycle are all on the top of my list. Our daughter is getting married in June so the preparation for that is currently taking up most of my free time.
I would have to say pizza is my favorite food, but mashed potatoes and chocolate are close seconds.
The Grand Cayman Islands are my favorite travel destination and any road trip with my family is always a fun adventure.I am currently reading Embraced by the Light, by Bettie Eadie.
It is her story of her near-death experience. I would have to say it is a good read and I am enjoying it.
